Taking care of your hardwood furniture is essential to ensure its longevity and maintain its appearance. Here are some tips we recommend to help you care for our furniture products:
Dust Regularly: Dust your hardwood furniture regularly using a soft, lint-free cloth or a microfiber duster. This will help prevent the build up of dirt and debris that can scratch the surface.
Avoid Direct Sunlight: Please keep in mind the placement of your product. The sun can fade and damage the wood. Place your furniture away from the window or use curtains and blinds to block out the sunlight. If this isn’t possible, consider using UV-protective window film.
Use coasters and placemats: To prevent water rings and heat damage, use coasters and placemats under glasses, cups, and hot objects. This will protect the wood surface from moisture and heat.
Clean spills immediately: Accidental spills should be cleaned immediately to prevent them from seeping into the wood and causing stains. Blot the spill gently with a soft cloth or paper towel, and avoid rubbing, as it can spread the liquid and damage the finish.
Avoid harsh chemicals: Harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners can damage the wood finish. Instead, use a mild, non-ammonia-based cleaner specifically formulated for wood furniture. Apply the cleaner to a soft cloth and gently wipe the surface, following the wood grain. Do not use dish detergents or floor cleaners, even if heavily diluted.
Polish periodically: Periodically polish your hardwood furniture to enhance its shine and protect the finish. Use a high-quality furniture polish or a paste wax recommended for wood furniture. Apply a thin, even layer, following the product instructions, and buff gently with a soft cloth.
Maintain consistent humidity levels: Wood furniture is sensitive to changes in humidity, which can cause it to expand or contract. Maintain a consistent humidity level in your home, ideally between 40% and 45%, to prevent warping or cracking of the wood. Use a humidifier or dehumidifier if necessary.
Avoid extreme temperature changes: Rapid temperature changes can also affect the wood. Avoid placing hardwood furniture near heating vents, fireplaces, or air conditioning units. Additionally, avoid placing hot objects directly on the surface.
Handle with care: When moving or repositioning your hardwood furniture, lift it rather than dragging it, as dragging can scratch or dent the surface. Use furniture pads or felt protectors under the legs to prevent scratches on the floor.
